TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE MEME
PREMISE PLOT ARRIVAL SETTING NAVIGATION

01. ARRIVING IN PELEA
A cold wind singing down from the white-capped mountains which hang blue-black in the distance stirs your cheek, the tall grass all around you. A bough creaks as the wind makes it tremble, and the dappled shadows drift over you, leaves rustling. As you blink awake, you hear the quiet hiss of water over stones. You are not where you once were!

You and a large group of strangers are blinking awake, pulling yourselves up off the dirt, grass, and rubble near a small wooded stream. There is no evidence of civilization in sight, and as you exchange stories you realize that you must decide what to do.

Will you head past the trees and towards the mountains? Deeper into the forest? Stay put and wait for help to arrive? You might even try to meet everyone else, and either convince them to band together... or head their separate ways.

02. CITY SLICKER
There are many cities throughout the world of Pelea, and in most player characters, the Flaws, are welcomed as curiosities. From the lively, bustling markets of colorful Vairaya to the grimly efficient and stately mountain strongholds of Draichurith, your characters will find a wide variety of cultures and races to interact with and investigate. They could be seeking empoyment, answers to the mystery of their arrival, or a quiet place to drink away their worries.

03. WILDCARD!

Sure it's edible, but no guarantee we ain't allergic.

[ Or that it isn't poisonous to them. Simply because the locals can have it doesn't mean any of them brought here have the same resistance. One can never be too careful. ]

Your accent. New York?

[personal profile] angelrunes 2016-06-17 01:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, come on. That's what life is about, isn't it?

[Carefully, she selects a few fruits that seem ripe and ready to eat. She's not rich by any means, here, but she can afford food.]

Yes. You too?

[ He gives her a brief Look that might just say kids these days. His shoulders drop in lieu of a smile. ]

Brooklyn. Though I haven't been back in a while.
angelrunes: (lil smirk)

Why not?

[From the way the man looks, Clary can tell this might be a dangerous question, so she keeps her tone as innocent as she can make it as she finished paying for her food. She hands him something resembling an apple, but...sort of iridescent.]

Wanna try one?

I was in Afghanistan.

[ Not, technically, a lie — she didn't ask him when this happened, or which side he was on. The harsh landscape explains enough to someone who's careful about asking, anyway. ]

[ He blinks at the offering. She's a young woman like so many he's met over the past two years who's probably just trying to be charitable. Doesn't mean he has to eat this thing in front of her. ]

Uh, how does it taste in pie?
angelrunes: (laughing)

[personal profile] angelrunes 2016-06-17 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh.

[A soldier. Explains why his eyes seem so haunted. She doesn't know many soldiers, but it's such a part of the world they live in now that she wouldn't ever question it.

When he asks about how it'd taste in a pie, Clary gives the fruit a look, making a face and giving him a shrug. She just offered it for him to have an adventure that probably wouldn't do him any harm. Maybe crack a smile.]

Honestly? I have no clue. I'm not much of a baker, so if it's edible now, it might not be if I put it in a pie. [She grins.]

[ The muscles have been disused for the better part of a century. A smile would only result in a grimace. ]

Maybe you should give it a shot. Hasn't your whole point been to try something?

[ The amusement is in his eyes, mostly. he takes the 'apple'. She probably wouldn't insist if he really didn't want to, but his mother's voice is always clear when it says, James Buchanan, I didn't raise you to be rude. ]
angelrunes: (lil smirk)

[personal profile] angelrunes 2016-06-17 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
[She can see in his eyes that he's trying, at least, and that - that's something Clary strives for. That's why she draws, to make herself and others happy, that's why she tries to save the world whenever she is given a chance to. The world is a shitty, dark place, and she has to do her best to make her corner of it a little brighter.]

That's very true. You know, I think I will! Shame we don't have the internet here, harder to find a recipe.

[He takes the fruit from her, and their fingers brush for a moment before Clary pulls back, satisfied. She goes for another in her bag, biting into it enthusiastically, juice dribbling down her chin. She chuckles as she wipes at it with the sleeve of her sweater.]

I'm Clary, by the way. It's nice to meet you. You been here long?

I know one, I can write it down for you.

[ He doesn't bake, but he's one of two people in the world who remembers Sarah Rogers' apple pie. Can't be that different with this fruit. It crunches pleasantly when she bites. Like this, back and forth, mimicking a human conversation. He says this, she says that, and something comes of it. ]

James. Nice to meet you too. Did you wake up in the woods?
angelrunes: (just listening)

[personal profile] angelrunes 2016-06-17 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that'd be great! I can let you know the results. I can even keep you a piece if you want.

[The fruit's good. It's sweet, a little tart, reminding her of a pear. It's actually pretty delicious, especially since she's been eating gruel quite a lot, recently. This is an excellent departure from that.]

Yeah, I did. It was...quite an experience, really. It seems like lots of us did. Still don't know why, though. Drives me crazy.
redactions: ([ ca: tfa ] 05.)

help she's so cute

[personal profile] redactions 2016-06-17 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
There're a lot of theories floating around.

[ His own in the mix; it doesn't pay to say that right off the bat. ]

I'd like that. Are you staying in town?
angelrunes: (Default)

XD

[personal profile] angelrunes 2016-06-18 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I've heard a few. I can believe I've gone through a portal and landed on another planet. I've done it before, I mean - it was an alternate universe, of sorts? So. Could happen again, right?

[Again, she throws James a grin.]

I'm staying, yeah. For a while, at least. Are you? You could come help me bake this thing.

[It's not flirting. It really isn't! It's just the way she is. Okay, maybe it's flirting a little, but it's totally innocent flirting. She won't be offended if he doesn't respond to it. She wouldn't mind a friend, either. Even if it's a taciturn one.]

[personal profile] redactions 2016-06-19 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Could happen.

[ Thoughtful, and oh, time to change the subject. ]

I'm around. Where do you stay?

[Clary knows when she's being shut down. She's been working with Jace and Alec for a while, after all, there are some tell tale signs about it. She rolls her eyes, but moves on.

After his question, she motions east.]

There's a small bunch of buildings that the city has put a bunch of us into. Studio apartments, but it's functional, it's got four walls, a bed, a bathroom and a kitchen. All I need really.

What about you?

[personal profile] redactions 2016-06-22 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
I live in the woods.

[ In a treehouse. Girls are allowed. It sounds a bit pathetic, so he clarifies, ]

Quieter out there.

[ Rather, it's the fact that anyone approaching gives him at least ten minutes notice with the birds flying off, the twigs snapping under their feet as they walk. ]
angelrunes: (lil smirk)

[personal profile] angelrunes 2016-06-22 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you have a cabin out there, at least?

[Now Clary's most definitely curious. She's never lived outside of the city, and the Institute was never, ever quiet. She has no idea how it is.]

Would you...show me?

[Really, it's not a come on. She won't be mad if he says no.]
redactions: ([ ca: tfa ] 05.)

[personal profile] redactions 2016-06-23 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
Something like that.

[ Hm. He could always move if she brought trouble to his door. ]

Sure. If you like camping.
angelrunes: (lil smirk)

[personal profile] angelrunes 2016-06-23 11:16 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I for sure won't be able to bake a pie on a camping stove, but I've never had an issue with camping.

[She takes another bite of the fruit, licking juice off of her pinky.]

My stepdad and I used to go camping together to give my mom some space, time with her friends. We'd make s'mores, and he'd tell me all of these stories he has, about what it's like being a cop. It's all good memories.

[personal profile] redactions 2016-06-23 11:30 am (UTC)(link)
We can make marshmallows.

[ It's an alien thing to think of, roasting marshmallows on a fire, listening to her talk about a normal childhood and a normal life somewhere far away from here. James has an eye for trajectories, but bullets are just that: bullets. ]

Just so you know — there's bears and some kind of wolf around.

[ She looks like she can handle herself, but. ]
angelrunes: (Default)

[personal profile] angelrunes 2016-06-24 10:57 am (UTC)(link)
Ooooh, that sounds exciting! [Clary winks at James, chuckling.] When you say 'some kind' of wolf, do you mean more like a wereworlf, or more like a dire wolf?
