TEST DRIVE MEME |
01. ARRIVING IN PELEA
A cold wind singing down from the white-capped mountains which hang blue-black in the distance stirs your cheek, the tall grass all around you. A bough creaks as the wind makes it tremble, and the dappled shadows drift over you, leaves rustling. As you blink awake, you hear the quiet hiss of water over stones. You are not where you once were!
You and a large group of strangers are blinking awake, pulling yourselves up off the dirt, grass, and rubble near a small wooded stream. There is no evidence of civilization in sight, and as you exchange stories you realize that you must decide what to do.
Will you head past the trees and towards the mountains? Deeper into the forest? Stay put and wait for help to arrive? You might even try to meet everyone else, and either convince them to band together... or head their separate ways.
02. CITY SLICKER
There are many cities throughout the world of Pelea, and in most player characters, the Flaws, are welcomed as curiosities. From the lively, bustling markets of colorful Vairaya to the grimly efficient and stately mountain strongholds of Draichurith, your characters will find a wide variety of cultures and races to interact with and investigate. They could be seeking empoyment, answers to the mystery of their arrival, or a quiet place to drink away their worries.

[ He doesn't bake, but he's one of two people in the world who remembers Sarah Rogers' apple pie. Can't be that different with this fruit. It crunches pleasantly when she bites. Like this, back and forth, mimicking a human conversation. He says this, she says that, and something comes of it. ]
James. Nice to meet you too. Did you wake up in the woods?

[The fruit's good. It's sweet, a little tart, reminding her of a pear. It's actually pretty delicious, especially since she's been eating gruel quite a lot, recently. This is an excellent departure from that.]
Yeah, I did. It was...quite an experience, really. It seems like lots of us did. Still don't know why, though. Drives me crazy.
help she's so cute
[ His own in the mix; it doesn't pay to say that right off the bat. ]
I'd like that. Are you staying in town?
XD
[Again, she throws James a grin.]
I'm staying, yeah. For a while, at least. Are you? You could come help me bake this thing.
[It's not flirting. It really isn't! It's just the way she is. Okay, maybe it's flirting a little, but it's totally innocent flirting. She won't be offended if he doesn't respond to it. She wouldn't mind a friend, either. Even if it's a taciturn one.]

[ Thoughtful, and oh, time to change the subject. ]
I'm around. Where do you stay?
no subject
After his question, she motions east.]
There's a small bunch of buildings that the city has put a bunch of us into. Studio apartments, but it's functional, it's got four walls, a bed, a bathroom and a kitchen. All I need really.
What about you?
no subject
[ In a treehouse. Girls are allowed. It sounds a bit pathetic, so he clarifies, ]
Quieter out there.
[ Rather, it's the fact that anyone approaching gives him at least ten minutes notice with the birds flying off, the twigs snapping under their feet as they walk. ]

[Now Clary's most definitely curious. She's never lived outside of the city, and the Institute was never, ever quiet. She has no idea how it is.]
Would you...show me?
[Really, it's not a come on. She won't be mad if he says no.]
no subject
[ Hm. He could always move if she brought trouble to his door. ]
Sure. If you like camping.

[She takes another bite of the fruit, licking juice off of her pinky.]
My stepdad and I used to go camping together to give my mom some space, time with her friends. We'd make s'mores, and he'd tell me all of these stories he has, about what it's like being a cop. It's all good memories.

[ It's an alien thing to think of, roasting marshmallows on a fire, listening to her talk about a normal childhood and a normal life somewhere far away from here. James has an eye for trajectories, but bullets are just that: bullets. ]
Just so you know — there's bears and some kind of wolf around.
[ She looks like she can handle herself, but. ]
