TEST DRIVE MEME

01. ARRIVING IN PELEA
A cold wind singing down from the white-capped mountains which hang blue-black in the distance stirs your cheek, the tall grass all around you. A bough creaks as the wind makes it tremble, and the dappled shadows drift over you, leaves rustling. As you blink awake, you hear the quiet hiss of water over stones. You are not where you once were!

You and a large group of strangers are blinking awake, pulling yourselves up off the dirt, grass, and rubble near a small wooded stream. There is no evidence of civilization in sight, and as you exchange stories you realize that you must decide what to do.

Will you head past the trees and towards the mountains? Deeper into the forest? Stay put and wait for help to arrive? You might even try to meet everyone else, and either convince them to band together... or head their separate ways.

02. CITY SLICKER
There are many cities throughout the world of Pelea, and in most of them player characters, the Flaws, are welcomed as curiosities. Whether they're among the passionate, oft thought as hot-headed, but hospitable folk of the Banner or the noble and haughty people of the Empire, your characters will find a wide variety of cultures, races and simply people to interact with and investigate. They could be seeking employment, answers to the mystery of their arrival or other folk like themselves, or a quiet place to drink away their worries.

03. WILDCARD!

Flat | Top-Level Comments Only

[ Wow, wow, how dare you judge. Glitch side eyes the taller woman beside him with a frown and squinted eyes. ]

I never said I WAS I just I could. For all I know they cut people's hands off here. [ The judgement however does little to shift his expression. And well....now he can't even steal anything with this girl watching. ]

Yikes. [That reaction isn't faked, at least. She looks uneasy at the thought of people's hands getting cut off as punishment.]

Do they do that...uh, wherever you're from?

[ He makes a show of picking up an object, examining it as he listens to her question. His mouth in a tiny frown as if contemplating on a purchase. He shrugs at her question and responds: ]
No, we usually got the shit kicked out of us. Still a fucking pain since you couldn't work for days after one of those beat downs.

[ and then he slides the object back onto the table. ]

I just like to think worse case scenario in weirdo, other dimension land.

[As soon as those words are out of his mouth, something in the air shifts, and the owner of the booth--who had been watching Glitch closely as soon as he picked up one of his items--frowns at the two of them.

Crap. Time to get out of here. Korra takes the object out of Glitch's hand, and grabs his elbow once the thing's back on the display table.]

Follow me. [There's a tightness in her expression that wasn't there before as she steers him through the crowd, not letting him protest.] We need to talk.

[ It's a good thing Glitch caught wind of the look on the man's face or else he might've resisted. Something doesn't sit well with him as he see's it and instead of resisting Korra's force he just goes along with it. If the girl turned out she wanted to beat him, she'd be in for a surprise.

He just follows with a suspicious look on his face between her and the guy they just left. ]

Fine, but if you're planning on robbing me you'll be disappointed. [ He just keeps pace with her until they find some back alley or nook to hide in. ]

I'm not planing on robbing anyone. [Korra sighs as she finally lets go of him. This side street looks empty enough for the moment, and she's in no mood to walk further.

She studies him now, noting the clothes--clothes that had stood out in this world like hers had until she found something that blended in better.]

I'm gonna be blunt with you. Are you from this world, or did you just get pulled her from another one?

[ A hoodie, with jeans and boots probably does scream "from another dimension".

He just writes off the "rob" comment for now. When she does ask that question he gives her a look of recognition. At least she's not beating around the bush.]

If I told you a giant fucking hole opened up in front of me and sucked me would that count as being not from here? If so, yes, yes I'm from somewhere else.

[If he's expecting her to be surprised, he'll be sorely disappointed. Instead, she just nods, as if she was waiting for that response. Mostly, she's relieved that she hadn't been wrong.]

That's how a few other people got here, too. [She hesitates now, trying to find the words to put together.] Look, you have to be careful. For some reason, the people here don't like us. If they know you're from another world, it's going to mean trouble for you.

[ Oh great, of course this was the situation. He lets out a low sigh, far more annoyed than scared of the implication of "trouble". ]

Good to know I'm not some "chosen one" that'd be a freaking pain. [ However, he shrugs. ]

I'm use to trouble but fine. I'll keep that bit to myself though not sure how long that'll last with all this going on.
[ As he gestures to all of himself. ]

There's a whole group of us that are trapped in this world, apparently. [At least he's accepting what she's telling him. That's a good sign...right?] I've only met a few of them so far, though. We're sort of scattered.

[She frowns.] What do you mean, all of...this? [Korra completes the thought by mimicking the gesture he'd just made.]

[ Nature was the first thing that she had going for her when she told him this stuff. So, it was pretty easy in his mind. However, he just kind of frowns at the scattered part. ]

Not surprised there's more but than how do you guys manage to tell each other apart from the people who live here?

[ Since everyone has like human faces and all. As for her question: ]

My clothes. I think it's pretty obvious I stick out and it's not like I can afford anything. You know, not being from here and all.

Some of us show up together. That's how I met some of the others.

[She pauses, shifting her gave pensively to the side.]

The others I met by accident--kind of like what happened with you. We're keeping an eye out for any newcomers. You know...help them out if we can.

[ He narrows his eyes, if just a bit suspicious at this woman's apparent selflessness. That usually never comes freely so he tilts his head and folds his arms. If he could look anymore guarded he would develop armour plating. ]

Seems pretty generous of you guys. Whaddya get in return for helping newcomers like me?

[ because there's always some kind of catch.]

[Korra raises her brows at him, clueless about his sudden wariness.]

Uh...nothing? I mean, it'd be great if you helped us keep an eye out for new people like us, too, but that's about it. [The smile she gives him is tired, but genuine.] We don't really know how we got here, or why. That sounds like a good enough reason for all of us to stick together, don't you think?

[ He can't really argue with that logic. Considering how cut and dry the situation was at the moment.

If one thing was for certain he wouldn't be making here alive if he stayed by himself. Suppose he'd have to make a reluctant alliance with this girl and others down the line. ]

Yeah, yeah you have a point. Can't really get out of here if we don't know what the fuck is going on.

[ Not one he likes but it's a point. Still, he kind of looks at her appraisingly. Could he trust this girl for the time being? After all, she did kind of save his ass when she could've bolted.

Tentative trust. That's what he'll give for now. In which case he'll extend a hand for a handshake. ]

Glitch. [ This is his way of introducing himself. ]
