TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE MEME
PREMISE PLOT ARRIVAL SETTING NAVIGATION

01. ARRIVING IN PELEA
A cold wind singing down from the white-capped mountains which hang blue-black in the distance stirs your cheek, the tall grass all around you. A bough creaks as the wind makes it tremble, and the dappled shadows drift over you, leaves rustling. As you blink awake, you hear the quiet hiss of water over stones. You are not where you once were!

You and a large group of strangers are blinking awake, pulling yourselves up off the dirt, grass, and rubble near a small wooded stream. There is no evidence of civilization in sight, and as you exchange stories you realize that you must decide what to do.

Will you head past the trees and towards the mountains? Deeper into the forest? Stay put and wait for help to arrive? You might even try to meet everyone else, and either convince them to band together... or head their separate ways.

02. CITY SLICKER
There are many cities throughout the world of Pelea, and in most of them player characters, the Flaws, are welcomed as curiosities. Whether they're among the passionate, oft thought as hot-headed, but hospitable folk of the Banner or the noble and haughty people of the Empire, your characters will find a wide variety of cultures, races and simply people to interact with and investigate. They could be seeking employment, answers to the mystery of their arrival or other folk like themselves, or a quiet place to drink away their worries.

03. WILDCARD!

A poor name, he thought. But it was a name, for which he had prepared one for himself. After his experience with Hondo's pirates, he was not about to go drawing unnecessary attention to himself until he had reason to do so. Let them think he was no more than some old man, until it suited him otherwise.

"My name is Adan." He noticed at once how crude her armor was. It resembled the sort of ancient ceremonial armor still traditional on some planets, save for the fact it looked to have actually been used as opposed to something more modern and utilitarian. As to her sarcasm, he paid it no mind. "Might I guess you are not a native of this world?"

Armed to the damn teeth with primitive weapons, too. And not inclined to get up. Aila set her longbow on the grass beside her, then fell back onto her elbows, looking up at the clouds sailing across the sky. Nice day. Shame about the company.

She raised an eyebrow at how he phrased the question, but answered it regardless. "Don't recognize that range," she said, nodding at the mountains in the distance, "but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. Nirn's a big place."

Nirn. It was no name he was familiar with, but that could very well be the name of a continent rather than the planet itself. Without a navigation computer, it would not be easy working out his current location. Troubling.

"Then perhaps you would know where I could locate a spaceport."

He earned himself another dubious look--"space" port? Did he hit his head? He wasn't bleeding and all his speech...well, "made sense" would be putting it strongly, but it was grammatical and not slurred.

"I don't know where we are any more than you do, friend," Aila said with a shrug. Before Dooku got all misty, he should realize he hadn't been promoted; "friend" was just a verbal tic. "Once we find a town and get our bearings, I know where all the major ports in Tamriel are."

He might be an awful old man, but she wasn't going to leave him in the woods to die.

This verbal tic meant nothing to him, much in the same way she did. It was evident she was not understanding what he was getting at, though as the saying went, any port in a storm...

"I'm not familiar with Tamriel. Is it among the Outer Rim?"

"Rim" very vaguely rang a metaphysical bell--something about the structure of the universe--and Aila struggled to remember the details.

"Tamriel is on Nirn, not in Aetherius proper, if that's what you mean." She suspected they weren't having quite the same conversation, but damned if she could figure out the problem. "Are you a spirit? This is the mortal realm...I think."

She couldn't rule out a plane of Oblivion and daedric trickery, of course, but they didn't usually keep their realms so...uneventful.

His irritation was becoming increasingly evident, despite his calm though cold composure before. He'd never have much patience for primitives, but his old Jedi training had always impressed upon him to maintain a certain level of patients when dealing with the locals. It did not even occur to him to discard it, much as it might seem tempting.

"I am no spirit, young lady. I am as human and mortal as you are. What I am seeking is the means to leave this world. Have your people advanced enough to achieve space travel?"
