TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE MEME
PREMISE PLOT ARRIVAL SETTING NAVIGATION

01. ARRIVING IN PELEA
A cold wind singing down from the white-capped mountains which hang blue-black in the distance stirs your cheek, the tall grass all around you. A bough creaks as the wind makes it tremble, and the dappled shadows drift over you, leaves rustling. As you blink awake, you hear the quiet hiss of water over stones. You are not where you once were!

You and a large group of strangers are blinking awake, pulling yourselves up off the dirt, grass, and rubble near a small wooded stream. There is no evidence of civilization in sight, and as you exchange stories you realize that you must decide what to do.

Will you head past the trees and towards the mountains? Deeper into the forest? Stay put and wait for help to arrive? You might even try to meet everyone else, and either convince them to band together... or head their separate ways.

02. CITY SLICKER
There are many cities throughout the world of Pelea, and in most of them player characters, the Flaws, are welcomed as curiosities. Whether they're among the passionate, oft thought as hot-headed, but hospitable folk of the Banner or the noble and haughty people of the Empire, your characters will find a wide variety of cultures, races and simply people to interact with and investigate. They could be seeking employment, answers to the mystery of their arrival or other folk like themselves, or a quiet place to drink away their worries.

[ Thank God there’s at least one kind soul in this crowd, because Charlie was coming awfully close to solving this the magical way, and he’d rather not cause a scene. He breaks through the crowd to where the thief has been hauled aside and heaves a sigh of relief. ]

Yes, thank you. I don’t think I could have caught him on my own.
braavado: (I think I learned my lesson)

omg hi!

You're welcome. [The smile Korra gives him is small, but genuine. While hiding in the shadows suits her sort of just fine in her current state, she can't help but feel warm at being thanked. There's still no other feeling like helping someone, in her opinion.]

So what did he take from you?

[When the thief struggles and tries to escape, she sighs and tightens her grip on him.]

[ It’s nice to find someone who seems genuinely happy to have helped someone out. So far his experience here has been very “every man for himself”. ]

My jacket. [ He nods towards the bundle the thief has gathered in his arms. ] I set it down for a second, so that was my bad. I normally wouldn’t mind, but it’s got my stuff in it.
braavado: (This isn't going anywhere)

[Korra yanks the jacket out of the thief's grasp before finally setting him free, ignoring the guy scowls at her as he slinks off. She hands the jacket back to its owner, the smile on her face somewhat faded.]

You shouldn't have to worry about your things getting taken when you just put it down. [Sure, she'd seen how rough things could get in Republic City, but being on her own in this unfriendly place, without her friends' support, is really driving things home for her.]

[ Ha takes the offered jacket with a quiet thanks and slips it back on, making a quick check of the lining to be sure all of his weapons are still there. They are, which is nice, though he takes care to keep them out of Korra’s line of sight. ]

Maybe, but that doesn’t change the reality of the situation.

[ He shrugs, and after a brief pause, offers her a hand. ] Thanks again for the help. I’m Charlie.
braavado: (idk...my bff Naga?)

I guess not. [From her tone, it's clear she doesn't like it, even if she's had to deal with the harsh reality more than she'd have liked since she got here.

She tries to muster a smile up for him, though, and her grip when she takes his hand is strong, certain.]

I'm Korra. [She pauses.] Did you just get to the city or something?
