TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE MEME
PREMISE PLOT ARRIVAL SETTING NAVIGATION

01. ARRIVING IN PELEA
A cold wind singing down from the white-capped mountains which hang blue-black in the distance stirs your cheek, the tall grass all around you. A bough creaks as the wind makes it tremble, and the dappled shadows drift over you, leaves rustling. As you blink awake, you hear the quiet hiss of water over stones. You are not where you once were!

You and a large group of strangers are blinking awake, pulling yourselves up off the dirt, grass, and rubble near a small wooded stream. There is no evidence of civilization in sight, and as you exchange stories you realize that you must decide what to do.

Will you head past the trees and towards the mountains? Deeper into the forest? Stay put and wait for help to arrive? You might even try to meet everyone else, and either convince them to band together... or head their separate ways.

02. CITY SLICKER
There are many cities throughout the world of Pelea, and in most player characters, the Flaws, are welcomed as curiosities. From the pastoral villages or bustling, grand cities of Shousal to the massive, sprawling bureaucratic centers of the Empire, your characters will find a wide variety of cultures and races to interact with and investigate. They could be seeking empoyment, answers to the mystery of their arrival, or a quiet place to drink away their worries.

03. WILDCARD!
braavado: (Well he hasn't mentioned YOU at all)

[Both Korra and the guards turn to look at Richard, though the guards lose interest quickly once they recognize him. Back to their impassive stares they go. Korra, on the other hand, knows a potential comrade when she sees one.

She leaves the entrance to join Richard, but not before making a face at the guards.]

Did you have trouble convincing them to help you, too?

[There's a chance he's one of the Flaws, she figures, even if she's not 100% sure yet.]
tummyflowers: (We agreed I would say the cool things!)

[Richard was a Flaw before it was even trendy to become one. He didn't get his position as Second Choice For King by simply being forced against his will into an entirely different world. He earned it.]

Oh, just the worst. Do you know they've never even heard of me? I mean, I'm not from this particular continent, but trust me when I say I'm a pretty big deal back home.
braavado: (Uhhh not sure what I can do about that)

[personal profile] braavado 2016-07-26 07:57 pm (UTC)(link)
[She raises her brows at him, torn between amusement and the strange realization that she might've been just as offended if she weren't trying to hide her identity as the Avatar. Huh.]

So I guess that makes you some kind of...world leader?

[Her voice lilts up questioningly as she makes her guess.]
tummyflowers: (Ditto big boy!)

[He straightens himself up and speaks in his most authoritative voice:] You speak to a King, girl.

[A moment pauses, but then he waves a hand dismissively.]

Well, deposed King, if you want to get technical about it. Hardly matters, does it?
braavado: (The mornings are EVIL)

[personal profile] braavado 2016-07-27 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
[Not really one for diplomacy--she tries, really, but fails so miserably most of the time--Korra immediately bristles.] My name's Korra, not girl.

[Apparently she doesn't really care if she's snapping at royalty. She crosses her arms.]

What'd you even do to make people that mad at you anyway?
tummyflowers: (We were gettin' jiggy!)

[personal profile] tummyflowers 2016-07-27 01:39 am (UTC)(link)
Well, that mostly. [He shrugs and offers his hands up in apology.] Sorry about that. Other things, really. Invasions, abductions, revenge murder plots. All really standard stuff really, but it pays to be choosy with who you marry.

[Specifically, don't abduct power hungry peasant girls with delusions of grandeur and then marry them. It surprisingly doesn't work out.]
braavado: (Seems like I keep making enemies)

[personal profile] braavado 2016-07-27 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
[At least he apologized for it, she notes. Her stance relaxes slightly, though her hard stare doesn't at all, especially when he casually lists out those offenses.]

Geez, you call that standard? No wonder people wanted to depose you if you're doing all of that while you're king.
tummyflowers: (For realsies)

[personal profile] tummyflowers 2016-07-27 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, I'll admit, I've made a few mistakes here and there. But aren't we more worried about getting in there instead?

[Because all that glaring is a little unsettling. She has a dangerous look about her, despite her youth. The last thing he wants is to go and get chastised for things he will readily admit might have been unethical.]
braavado: (You got it Chief Crankypants)

[personal profile] braavado 2016-07-28 06:18 pm (UTC)(link)
You had about as much luck as I did, remember?

[Before, she might have simply knocked a hole in their wall and demanded answers, but with most of her elements gone, she's nowhere near as confident as she used to be.

Now that she's had some time to calm down, Korra realizes Richard looks familiar. Lips pursed, Korra looks Richard over again, this time with narrowed eyes.]

I think I remember seeing you when I woke up near the stream. You just got here a few days ago, right?
tummyflowers: (We were gettin' jiggy!)

[This he can deal with. Being recognized is just something he expects, even though it happens far less often than he'd like.]

I do stand out in a crowd, but I was there. It was rather odd, really. I had separated from the others after spotting a coin in the dirt. Before I knew it, the damned thing was glowing and I was waking up with a bunch of strangers with no one I recognized, other than Tad Cooper who came with me.
