TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE MEME
PREMISE PLOT ARRIVAL SETTING NAVIGATION

01. ARRIVING IN PELEA
A cold wind singing down from the white-capped mountains which hang blue-black in the distance stirs your cheek, the tall grass all around you. A bough creaks as the wind makes it tremble, and the dappled shadows drift over you, leaves rustling. As you blink awake, you hear the quiet hiss of water over stones. You are not where you once were!

You and a large group of strangers are blinking awake, pulling yourselves up off the dirt, grass, and rubble near a small wooded stream. There is no evidence of civilization in sight, and as you exchange stories you realize that you must decide what to do.

Will you head past the trees and towards the mountains? Deeper into the forest? Stay put and wait for help to arrive? You might even try to meet everyone else, and either convince them to band together... or head their separate ways.

02. CITY SLICKER
There are many cities throughout the world of Pelea, and in most player characters, the Flaws, are welcomed as curiosities. From the pastoral villages or bustling, grand cities of Shousal to the massive, sprawling bureaucratic centers of the Empire, your characters will find a wide variety of cultures and races to interact with and investigate. They could be seeking empoyment, answers to the mystery of their arrival, or a quiet place to drink away their worries.

The merchant shakes his head and mumbles to himself, returning to his precious merchandise and ignoring them both. Jack deftly drops the last piece that he'd been trying to swipe, pivoting to face the man who'd spoken to him.

"I was merely askin' -- " Jack halts mid-sentence, squinting at the man for a few lengthy beats (has he seen this guy somewhere before?), then eventually continues, " -- Askin' whether the man had seen a certain ship or not." Then, in a tone that sounds more openly hopeful than Jack intended, "She's a galleon, 32-cannon, black with black sails. Magnificent ship. Don't suppose you might've seen her?"

While Jack was aware that this place was in no way close to home, there was still a hope in him that perhaps the Pearl had been drawn here along with him.

The squinting earned an eyebrow arched even higher, but Legolas said nothing to it when the Man simply continued with the first thought. It was unlikely that this was his first time seeing an elf, given how some are milling right there and then, all around them. And he listened to the description, falling quiet for but a moment to think of all the ships he had seen in this port city.

"Nay, here in Jiaport, I think no ship fits your description, none that I had seen," "But this is but one port city in all of Pelea, perhaps what you are looking for may be found elsewhere? Kharachar of Draichurith, or perhaps Sunvault of Shousal on the eastern coast—," he thought to the other port cities he knew, those sizeable ones anyway. Glaira was out, not for such a vessel anyway, which left one more, though not so pleasant as any of those he already mentioned, "Or Eveka of Vairaya.

"Why do you seek it? Is there a legend to it, and you wish to ask to be part of the crew for your love of it?" Mirth and teasing, two things he just couldn't help.
