TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE MEME
PREMISE PLOT ARRIVAL SETTING NAVIGATION

01. ARRIVING IN PELEA
A cold wind singing down from the white-capped mountains which hang blue-black in the distance stirs your cheek, the tall grass all around you. A bough creaks as the wind makes it tremble, and the dappled shadows drift over you, leaves rustling. As you blink awake, you hear the quiet hiss of water over stones. You are not where you once were!

You and a large group of strangers are blinking awake, pulling yourselves up off the dirt, grass, and rubble near a small wooded stream. There is no evidence of civilization in sight, and as you exchange stories you realize that you must decide what to do.

Will you head past the trees and towards the mountains? Deeper into the forest? Stay put and wait for help to arrive? You might even try to meet everyone else, and either convince them to band together... or head their separate ways.

02. CITY SLICKER
There are many cities throughout the world of Pelea, and in most player characters, the Flaws, are welcomed as curiosities. From the pastoral villages or bustling, grand cities of Shousal to the massive, sprawling bureaucratic centers of the Empire, your characters will find a wide variety of cultures and races to interact with and investigate. They could be seeking empoyment, answers to the mystery of their arrival, or a quiet place to drink away their worries.

He didn’t miss the brief look of worry the man gave his mug, and it amused Bucky more than it likely should have. The guy had his priorities straight, clearly.

“Fair’s fair,” he offered easily in return with a slight quirk of his lips. He straightened his posture a tad and gestured his arm aimlessly.

“A quiet tavern is hardly the place to be if you’re wantin’ a good time. Usually means their ale ain’t so great either, and that would be a damn shame to find yourself stuck with.”

"That's the truth, innit." Jack downs the rest of his rum in a couple more gulps, tossing aside the tankard and jerking his head towards the room's exit. "Care to get a bit o' fresh air for a bit, mate? Until it settles down in here."

He could appreciate tavern brawls just as much as the next man, of course, but Jack would rather not be mixed up into whatever disagreement had spawned this whole tavern-wide fight. Besides which, Jack had a sneaking suspicion that this man might be one of those 'flawed', like himself.

“Sounds like a plan.”

Not that fights weren’t good entertainment now and again—hell, he been through plenty and then some with Steve when they were younger—but it was getting far rowdier in the tavern than Bucky liked, especially given that there was plenty of reason to not get involved in precarious situations as a so called flawed anyway.

Cocking his head to the side, he started for the door, assuming the other man would take pace with him.

“Haven’t seen you ‘round this tavern before. You new to the area?’

It was a two-fold question, but regardless to which he answered, Bucky was curious.

Jack does keep good pace with him, winding his way through the rowdy, chaotic crowd and side-stepping errant fists that are thrown his way. When he opens the door to leave, a refreshingly cold salty breeze sweeps in.

He takes a breath and steps out, turning his head to regard Bucky with some careful consideration. "Aye, fairly new. And yourself? Where do you hail from?"

Bucky smiled pleasantly, a guise, and chuckled.

“Dunno if you’d know it. It’s pretty far away from here.” Not that Brooklyn was necessarily home for him anymore, even as much as the name itself invoked a sense of calm, a comfort he couldn't quite explain since that part of his life was long over.

“Doesn't matter much to me anyway. It's not so bad here.” At least for Bucky, given that no on knew the Winter Soldier at all and he was literally no one again.
