TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE MEME
PREMISE PLOT ARRIVAL SETTING NAVIGATION

01. ARRIVING IN PELEA
A cold wind singing down from the white-capped mountains which hang blue-black in the distance stirs your cheek, the tall grass all around you. A bough creaks as the wind makes it tremble, and the dappled shadows drift over you, leaves rustling. As you blink awake, you hear the quiet hiss of water over stones. You are not where you once were!

You and a large group of strangers are blinking awake, pulling yourselves up off the dirt, grass, and rubble near a small wooded stream. There is no evidence of civilization in sight, and as you exchange stories you realize that you must decide what to do.

Will you head past the trees and towards the mountains? Deeper into the forest? Stay put and wait for help to arrive? You might even try to meet everyone else, and either convince them to band together... or head their separate ways.

02. CITY SLICKER
There are many cities throughout the world of Pelea, and in most player characters, the Flaws, are welcomed as curiosities. From the pastoral villages or bustling, grand cities of Shousal to the massive, sprawling bureaucratic centers of the Empire, your characters will find a wide variety of cultures and races to interact with and investigate. They could be seeking empoyment, answers to the mystery of their arrival, or a quiet place to drink away their worries.

Boromir shifted with a concerning discomfort as the elf reached for him—as Legolas reached for him. His lips parted and he drew in a slow breath as his eyes fell to the hands that grasped his own. He immediately returned the grip and felt the strength and promise in the other’s touch. Warm and genuine, kind and graceful as was only expected upon one that could walk atop the snow and fly from branch to branch with barely a stir of leaves. His own hands looked rough and heavy, discolored and grey, like the hands that would plow through snow carrying two hobbits through the thick.

It was the last of Legolas’ words in which Boromir’s eyes lifted from their joined hands. It was strange, almost comforting that he would not find peace here; deserving in any case. Yet, Legolas—the prince of Mirkwood, legendarily Greenwood, would be here to suffer conflict did not bode well in Boromir’s heart.

“If my being here brings you joy I would gladly take war for me.” He said with a rasp of his voice.

The words touched touched his heart, the sweetness of the sentiment feeding both the joy and the guilt. They comforted him to know that Boromir was unchanged by the experience of death, for yes, it was no secret to Legolas's eyes at all that Boromir knew what happened to him. It comforted Legolas none, however, to sense the guilt and the suffering in his friend. Death was suffering, but the guilt had no right at all to take hold of his heart.

For the comfort Boromir gave him, Legolas squeezed his hands, held them a moment longer to offer him the same in return, before eventually releasing his grasp. Unfortunately, he had few comforting words, not of their situation.

"War, it may yet come to it, indeed," he paused, considering how much more he ought to say right now. "We are unwanted here, called the flaws, in spite of not having come of our own volition, and few out there are willing to understand our plight and aid us in any manner. So we must lie and deceive, pretending to be one of their own as we learn as much as we may from them. But— we are not alone," as was clear, even now they were surrounded by people, and there was still the group Legolas was meant to meet up with. "We have powerful and kind allies, so we are not without hope."
