PREMISE PLOT ARRIVAL SETTING NAVIGATION

01. ARRIVING IN PELEA
A cold wind singing down from the white-capped mountains which hang blue-black in the distance stirs your cheek, the tall grass all around you. A bough creaks as the wind makes it tremble, and the dappled shadows drift over you, leaves rustling. As you blink awake, you hear the quiet hiss of water over stones. You are not where you once were!

You and a large group of strangers are blinking awake, pulling yourselves up off the dirt, grass, and rubble near a small wooded stream. There is no evidence of civilization in sight, and as you exchange stories you realize that you must decide what to do.

Will you head past the trees and towards the mountains? Deeper into the forest? Stay put and wait for help to arrive? You might even try to meet everyone else, and either convince them to band together... or head their separate ways.

02. CITY SLICKER
There are many cities throughout the world of Pelea, and in most player characters, the Flaws, are welcomed as curiosities. From the pastoral villages or bustling, grand cities of Shousal to the massive, sprawling bureaucratic centers of the Empire, your characters will find a wide variety of cultures and races to interact with and investigate. They could be seeking empoyment, answers to the mystery of their arrival, or a quiet place to drink away their worries.

[There's something dangerous about this girl - she reminds Charles of Anne, in some ways, in good ways. Anne may be a brash, crude individual, with questionable taste in men, but she also is the kind of graceful in the way she kills that always impressed Charles. He wouldn't be surprised if the lady in front of him showed the same kind of grace.]

Captain Charles Vane, of the Revenge.

[He chuckles.] And what should a trader look like, exactly?

[ The sharpness splits for a brief show of real amusement. ]

A pleasure, Captain. I am Nyssa al Ghul, heir to the Demon.

[ The title has been given to another, but he claims it falsely. Oliver Queen is no true demon, no assassin, and certainly not worthy of her birthright. ]

[The answer makes him laugh.]

I'll take this as a compliment. Maybe I'm just lucky?

[He's not. He keeps his body as sharp as he can. Running around a ship makes for easy exercising.]

Demon?

[That's the kind of name that would sound extremely good in a crew. Easy to earn respect. Charles is intrigued.]

[ Not luck at all. His body is kept in fighting shape, and no soft man smiles like he does. ]

Yes. My father's name, soon to be mine. Why, do you find it distasteful? Unusual, perhaps?

[ It's very obviously a test, one she suspects he will pass, but she asks nonetheless. ]

No, I'm not.

[If the physique wasn't enough, he's got scars to prove it. From Albinus' mark to the numerous tears and slashes he's taken in the past, it's written all over his body.]

I find it intriguing, actually.

[Unusual, for sure - who claims to be the heir of a demon, anywhere? It'd be in folks' tales back home. On Pelea, it'd be dangerous for her to say so, depending on where they are.]

[ Oh, good show Charles. She smiles. ]

Men only respect what they fear, don't they?

Some might.

[He's not one of them, though. He respected Eleanor, for the longest time, for her poise and her fearlessness, but he was never afraid of her. He respects Flint, for many wrong reasons, but he's not afraid of him, either.]

Fear is a choice that too many people make. I respect plenty of things, but I wouldn't respect myself if I let fear guide my opinion of others.

It's a healthy thing to have.

[ Everyone is afraid. It's only how it shows itself, and Nyssa has transformed it into anger, retribution, everything that can't be weakness. ]

You have a point. Not for a captain.

[ Not for a leader. ]

Depends on the point of view, Miss Al Ghul. If I show fear to my crew, what will they think? Will they follow a man they think weak?

[They won't. Men like the ones Charles needed on his ship didn't follow cowards.]

Fear isn't healthy in my line of work, you're quite right. Fear gets you swinging from a noose, which is not something I plan on doing. At least not any time soon.
