TEST DRIVE MEME

TEST DRIVE MEME
PREMISE PLOT ARRIVAL SETTING NAVIGATION

01. ARRIVING IN PELEA
A cold wind singing down from the white-capped mountains which hang blue-black in the distance stirs your cheek, the tall grass all around you. A bough creaks as the wind makes it tremble, and the dappled shadows drift over you, leaves rustling. As you blink awake, you hear the quiet hiss of water over stones. You are not where you once were!

You and a large group of strangers are blinking awake, pulling yourselves up off the dirt, grass, and rubble near a small wooded stream. There is no evidence of civilization in sight, and as you exchange stories you realize that you must decide what to do.

Will you head past the trees and towards the mountains? Deeper into the forest? Stay put and wait for help to arrive? You might even try to meet everyone else, and either convince them to band together... or head their separate ways.

02. CITY SLICKER
There are many cities throughout the world of Pelea, and in most player characters, the Flaws, are welcomed as curiosities. From the pastoral villages or bustling, grand cities of Shousal to the massive, sprawling bureaucratic centers of the Empire, your characters will find a wide variety of cultures and races to interact with and investigate. They could be seeking empoyment, answers to the mystery of their arrival, or a quiet place to drink away their worries.

03. WILDCARD!

"I am Durotan, of the..." He trailed off, realizing the name of his clan was pointless here, especially being as there was not another Frostwolf within worlds of this place as far as he knew. He ended up frowning slightly before he continued. "-of the orcs. My world was called Draenor."

By now he had gathered that there were various worlds and times, various forms of humans, and possibly even varied forms of orcs. He had yet to meet another who proclaimed themselves an orc but he understood it could be possible. Durotan placed a hand upon his bare chest, then motioned to Waver. "I had met humans before, briefly, on a world called Azeroth. There were many humans there. Is that your world?" It was a long shot but not outside the bounds of what constituted reality here.

"It isn't," Waver says diplomatically. The long, slow, meandering conversations of what one's home was were enjoyable enough upon arrival, but he eschews it now in favor of being direct and swift with the basics. "Home is called Earth, and we only have humans there - for better or for worse. This place, Pelea, has far more variety. I guess Azeroth also has something similar?"

He pauses, just to catch his breath. "You haven't been here long, have you?"

He shook his head in the negative. Durotan had been wandering, eating, fighting what he could, and learning for only a few weeks. He gave a huff thinking about there being only one intelligent race on a world and it seemed truly strange. While it was true that the races all battled against each other, vied for territory and power, there was much they could learn from each other if peaceful times could ever come. Durotan didn't think he would ever see it in his day, and he wondered if this human knew eternal peace on his Earth or not.

"Yes, but I only ever met humans. They had other races I know nothing of." It was so strange now to walk among them, and to be able to talk with them. Durotan found that he enjoyed it.

"I think that there's certain areas where it's only humans," Waver offers in a pleasant enough time. There's none that he's seen, but he's heard plenty.

"But I've heard mention of elves, at least."

"I know nothing of elves either." There wasn't much Durotan did know about this place, or any of the other places these so-called flaws came from. It made his small home in the rocky snow drifts of Draenor seem both very special, and very insignificant in the grand scheme of the universe. It did make him wonder if anyone from his world would ever find their way here. Perhaps his wife, even.

That's a little bit of even footing. Waver isn't quite sure what to make of it. He sure isn't going to mention that elves count as fictional back home, written about only in books, he suspects that would be rude bordering on really inappropriate, so he shoves the thought aside.

But as he does, a slightly more important question springs forward. "How'd you end up in this place anyway? Did you pick up something weird and then suddenly you're in the mountains or--?"
