PREMISE PLOT ARRIVAL SETTING NAVIGATION

01. ARRIVING IN PELEA
A cold wind singing down from the white-capped mountains which hang blue-black in the distance stirs your cheek, the tall grass all around you. A bough creaks as the wind makes it tremble, and the dappled shadows drift over you, leaves rustling. As you blink awake, you hear the quiet hiss of water over stones. You are not where you once were!

You and a large group of strangers are blinking awake, pulling yourselves up off the dirt, grass, and rubble near a small wooded stream. There is no evidence of civilization in sight, and as you exchange stories you realize that you must decide what to do.

Will you head past the trees and towards the mountains? Deeper into the forest? Stay put and wait for help to arrive? You might even try to meet everyone else, and either convince them to band together... or head their separate ways.

02. CITY SLICKER
There are many cities throughout the world of Pelea, and in most of them player characters, the Flaws, are welcomed as curiosities. Whether they're among the passionate, oft thought as hot-headed, but hospitable folk of the Banner or the noble and haughty people of the Empire, your characters will find a wide variety of cultures, races and simply people to interact with and investigate. They could be seeking employment, answers to the mystery of their arrival or other folk like themselves, or a quiet place to drink away their worries.

[ Superboy. Obviously — wearing the S, but, ]

No, I've never seen you before in my life or heard of a Superboy. Where do you come from?

[ on an unbelievably hopeful note, ]

Krypton?

[checkoutmyttk]

[Wow, right away with the hard ones.]

No, I...you do know Superman, right? [He doesn't answer the question, instead pushing the conversation forward.] It's just that I know Supergirl and you're not her. I mean, you're different people. This wouldn't be the first time I met people wearing the shield that I don't know though. [Granted, all of those other times had been in alternate universes, but still.

Wait.] You are? From Krypton? [Linda wasn't after all. None of the others were.]

[highflights]

Of course I do. He's my cousin.

[ She's frowning now, crossing her arms defensively. ]

We're both from Krypton. This isn't my first trip to another world, but I'm pretty sure we're not in the Phantom Zone.

[checkoutmyttk]

[Really, he should be focusing on the important things right now. It's just he needs a second to fully digest the mortification that he was checking out his cousin why is this his life???

Okay, moment passed, he shoves aside anymore freaking out over that for later. Because, well. She's his cousin. As in, biological relation. Sort of anyway. He shakes his head, in agreement with her assessment and clearly stunned.]

No, it's not. It's an alternate universe. [The existence of another living soul from Krypton makes that clear to him. If she existed in his universe, Kal would know. He'd have to.]

It has to be because you don't exist in mine. [And then because he hadn't done it before and he has the sudden ridiculous urge to tell her everything about his life, he offers up a tentative—] I'm Kon. Kon-El.

[highflights]

[ He's being uncharacteristically evasive of all her questions, but he's wearing the S, nobody does that lightly. He knows a Supergirl and a Superman; it doesn't occur to her that these versions could be any different from her own until he brought it up. ]

Kara Zor-El.

[ She shakes his hand, warmly. ]

Just Kara, for family.

[ What does it mean that she doesn't exist? Who's looking out for Kal? ]

There's me and Kal, and I think a few others around, but they keep to themselves. Superheroes, I mean.

[checkoutmyttk]

[Just Kara for family.]

Kara. [He can't help it, he smiles.] It's cool to meet you Kara. We've got too many superheroes to count, but there's only a few of us who wear this. [He taps his chest.]

And Kal's the only one actually from Krypton. I'm. [He pauses and shrugs. There was no point in keeping it from her when everyone in his world knows.]

I'm from Earth. Superman's clone. Bunch of scientists freaked out over what they'd do if the big guy ever died and they made me. [His tone is casual, even flippant, but the set of his shoulders says he knows better than to actually believe the lies his posture is trying to sell.]

[highflights]

[ It makes three, which is more than she'd ever dreamed of having. Still, her brow furrows. ]

Sorry?

[ LOADING ]

You're a clone?

[ It's makes her feel sick: they didn't ask Kal, probably, and nobody asked her when Lord made that other Supergirl and put her through unimaginable suffering to make her a weapon. ]

[checkoutmyttk]

[The smile falls immediately and is quickly (but not quite quick enough) replaced with a nonchalant laugh.]

Half a clone to be exact. The Kryptonian DNA wouldn't take by itself. That's me, Superman's replacement except he doesn't need any replacing. Can you say awkward? So now I'm Superboy and to some people, Kon.

[highflights]

[ Too quickly. Kara has questions, but it needs to wait until after they find out where they are and what's happened, plus, they need to be somewhere more private. ]

Kon.

[ A beat, then, ]

Family rules, you get a hug. C'mere.

[unabatedly]

[ Well, that was...odd. And somewhat embarrassing. No one sees fit to come investigate, however, and Neria hardly seems impressed. ]

Funny. I've never heard of you.

[ She gives a small smile, not very kind. ]

Tell me, if you're the overlord of the entire cosmos, are you responsible for all of the terrible things that have happened in the worlds?

[unabatedly]

That's a great deal of wandering.

[ A traveler after her own heart, though her idea of traveling so frequently coincides with the accusation that she is avoiding her duty. It's a shame that people don't quite understand the little freedom she's had in her life - and how she has an obligation to the people, not just to the Wardens. ]

I've seen the maps; Pelea is a large place. How long have you been traveling? Do you have a cause or a goal in mind?

[teratias]

Three months, I think?

[Well, two months plus a week or so. Easier to round up, it does sound more impressive.]

And as for goals? Not really. Mostly I'm just enjoying the novelty of it.

[braavado]

[Luckily for Kon, Korra just happens to be alone--except for Naga, of course. Despite that, Korra still gives him a wide-eyed look before glancing frantically over her shoulder to be sure no one else is around. Naga hangs back and watches Kon warily.]

So, which one was it--the creepy tear in the sky or grabbing something off the ground? [Korra finally asks, once she's sure there's no one to eavesdrop. While there is some kind of power, or magic, in this world, the blatant use of his powers, along with that question usually means just one thing.]

[checkoutmyttk]

[Some of the tension bleeds out of his shoulders and he moves forward to embrace her briefly and carefully. A hug for his cousin-for his family and isn't that strange? When he pulls back, he lifts into the air again, hovering just a foot or so off the ground.]

So, looks like we're stuck figuring this thing out together.

[checkoutmyttk]

[Kon catches a glimpse of white fur and for a second wonders if he'd jinxed himself and somehow brought Krypto here, but a closer look shatters that thought. That is definitely not Krypto. He turns his attention away from the very large dog to focus on the girl with it.]

Tear in the sky. Definitely tear in the sky. [After a second, he settles on the ground in front of her.] I take it you know what's going on?

[unabatedly]

The novelty of it? You speak as if this is your first time journeying.

[ That's a curious way of putting it. Neria doesn't make a show of looking around for anyone with him - but it's odd for someone so unassuming to be traveling on his own. ]

[teratias]

[There's a little nervous laugh, one that Waver's not quite proud of.]

My first extended time would be a better way of phrasing it.

[braavado]

There's a whole group of us that are trapped in this world, apparently. [At least he's accepting what she's telling him. That's a good sign...right?] I've only met a few of them so far, though. We're sort of scattered.

[She frowns.] What do you mean, all of...this? [Korra completes the thought by mimicking the gesture he'd just made.]

[braavado]

Just the basics. [With that part of the awkward, confused introduction out of the way, Korra relaxes, cocking her head toward what looks like the beginnings of a campfire.]

Why don't you sit down and join us? We were just about to cook up some lunch--trust me, it'll take a while to explain the whole thing.

[glitchinthesystem]

[ Nature was the first thing that she had going for her when she told him this stuff. So, it was pretty easy in his mind. However, he just kind of frowns at the scattered part. ]

Not surprised there's more but than how do you guys manage to tell each other apart from the people who live here?

[ Since everyone has like human faces and all. As for her question: ]

My clothes. I think it's pretty obvious I stick out and it's not like I can afford anything. You know, not being from here and all.

[checkoutmyttk]

[He raises an eyebrow at that information but begins to follow her over, eyes trained on Naga with thinly veiled concern.] By 'us' do you mean you and uh, him? Her? [He inclines his head towards Naga.

For all his invulnerability, no one would ever guess at it given the nervous way he skirts around the giant canine.]

[braavado]

[Korra can't help it--she laughs. After the stress of adjusting to this world, it's nice to find moments like these, where she can find the humor in things.]

Relax. That's just Naga. [Completely oblivious to Kon's distress, Naga pads closer to him and sniffs at him curiously, tail wagging.] She's friendly, I promise.

[checkoutmyttk]

[Look Korra. Look. You don't understand okay. Kon continues to fix Naga with a dubious expression though he manages not to move away when she moves closer.]

Yeah? 'cause dogs don't tend to like me. Opposite in fact. [He's sure it's a species thing. Never mind that Clark got along fine with them, the depths to which Krypto hated him couldn't possibly be natural. And he's definitely not being a drama queen about it no matter what his friends say.

He reaches out a tentative hand to Naga's nose, looking like he's ready to pull it back at any second.]

[braavado]

[To be fair, Naga's pretty intimidating to most people, and Korra knows this all too well. That's the only reason, she suppresses her smirk.]

Well, Naga's not a regular dog. She's a polar bear dog. [Because, you know, that's helpful information. Naga, to her credit, completely forgoes Kon's extended hand and gives Kon's face a rather enthusiastic lick in greeting. ]

She's a wha-[DOG LICKING HIM. THAT JUST HAPPENED. Although he guesses that's better than dog trying to bite his ankle off, but now he's covered in giant dog slobber. (And giant dogs have a lot of slobber.) Kon takes one look at his dripping front and blanches, quickly running a hand over himself and using his TTK to pull the moisture out and fling it to the ground.

He manages to get his hair dry but styling it is a lost cause.] Ugh.
